Kristen Baker is a painter born in 1975 in Stamford, Connecticut. Baker holds a Barchelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Tufts University of Boston in 1998 and has a Masters Degree in painting from the University of Yale in 2002. She currently lives and works in New York.
Baker is known for her big-scale abstract paintings which were impregnated by light. Instead of using brushes on her canvases, Kristin uses non-traditional tools- metal scrapers and scrapers - to apply the acrylic paint on opaque sheets of PVC or acrylics.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and in important International museums, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and the PS1 Contemporary Art Center of New York, the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Royal Academy of London and the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersbourg. Her work is presented in the Saatchi Collection and she her work is presented by Deitch Projects in New York.
