Born in 1957 - United States
Will Kurtz is an American artist born in 1957 in Michigan.
At first he graduated with a Barchelors Degree in architecture from the Michigan State University in 1981, and worked as a landscape artist for several years before finally turning to art and it was until his thirties that he decided to dedicate to art in a autodidactic way. He went to New York and obtained a degree from the New York Academy of Art and he was selected for a post as a teacher/ researcher for a year.
He makes real-scale sculptures of animals and street characters in mache paper. The observator is put between his immobile sculptures which seem to interact between them without caring about the public, ignoring it completly.
His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He has made several works for big galleries in New York such as Mike Weiss Gallery and Queene Anne Gallery in Germany and his works are part of several collections in the United States, Canada, Germany and Switzerland.
