Born in 1973 in Maryland, Gabriella Dobo grew up in the United States (Maryland and Virginia) and Mexico.
She graduated from the School of Fine Arts of New York (Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art). She currently lives and works in Santiago.
Gabriella Dobo's drawings and sculptures probe the subtle space between two and three dimensions. Exercising a rigorous technique, the artist oscillates between abstraction, repetition and precision. Her pieces aspire to grasp the ephemeral zone between solidity and emptiness, opacity and transparency, light and shadow. Their apparent simplicity hides a complex layout and theory.
Her career has been tremendously successful, as demonstrated by her solo exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts of Santiago and in numerous galleries (Colorado, Santiago) and her participation at the Drawing Now Fair in Paris in April,2016.
