“Geometric shapes, first, sketched in small format, sketched on scraps of paper. A decomposed symmetry, spaces divided in a proportional way, thought out, rearranged, recomposed, transposed in large format on melamine sheets. A controlled rhythm, in no way restricted. Formal rigor equals factual thoroughness. Daniel Tostivint composes with his brushes and brilliant glycerol, the incident being systematically avoided or corrected.

At the beginning, he systematically dressed his paintings with white chopsticks. Little by little, the frame interfered in the pictorial composition until it became an integral part of the work, creating semi-reliefs, and then permanently disappearing from the outline of the painting. The surface is aerated, the forms escape according to the compositions. Presented in series, these paintings combine, summarize, find each other, escape or respond to each other. The colors are distributed proportionally from one canvas to another, sealing the harmony of the supports. It can also be black and white, or monochrome, which subtly reveals reliefs and flatness. A dialogue is established, a sharing is emerging ”.
