Gerard Sala

Gerard Sala studied painting at various academies in Barcelona. Since 1979 he has taught at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, where he is currently Professor Emeritus. In 1985 he completed his Doctoral Thesis "Environment" based on his own work.

He has had fifty solo exhibitions and participated in more than a hundred group exhibitions, most of them in Catalonia and Spain (Madrid, Seville, Bilbao, Ibiza, Zaragoza, Palma de Mallorca ...) and internationally (Germany, Sweden, USA, Israel, Uruguay, Chile, Italy).

Gerard Sala's work  is mainly dedicated to painting, although he has also cultivated some other fields of art such as engraving, lithography, sculpture (La porta del Mar in Badalona), the 200m2 mural in Honda Greens (La Garriga), posters (la Mercè festivity. Barcelona 1995), scenography (Nascita e Apoteosi di Horo, chamber opera by Miquel Roger), stamps (3 for the Pre-Olympic Series) and poetry (With the voice in the eyes, Vienna Edicions; Germinal, Edicions Pont del Petroli).

He has works in: Badalona Museum, Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art, Seville Museum of Contemporary Art, MACBA, Zabaleta Museum, Juan March Foundation, Lluís Companys Foundation, EINA Foundation, Vilacasas Foundation, La Caixa Witness Collection , University of Barcelona Collection, Diari Avui Collection, Banca Catalana Collection, Banco de Sabadell Collection, FCBarcelona Collection, Caixa de Girona Collection.

Gerard Sala is very interested in music, poetry and Taoism.
