Artist Statement:

I was born and raised in the midwest in the 60's and 70's . I joined the navy and was honorably discharged under medical circumstances, caused during my service. I married had 2 children, moved to Las Vegas Nevada in 1986. subsequently I moved my family to Washington state. From 1992 to 2006, when I moved just myself back to Las Vegas. I discovered painting after I had to retire for medical reasons. I first felt I would be the next Van Gogh, but found impressionism to not speak to my artistic soul, I found myself experimenting with color and shape and slowly developed my style. I discovered that color and shapes (primarily triangular shapes) spoke to my creative instincts. I am now firmly dedicated to Hardedge. Geometric,Colorfield and Abstract geometric painting. I believe each work should be left to the viewer to decide what their take on it is. I generally title my paintins with a word or two that have little to nothing directly connected to the image! I believe that shape and pattern recognition are driven from our pre historic mental make up , first as a self defense mechanism , and now as a way to stimulate our creative and artistic sides of our minds. Open yourself to this style and lose yourself in the art!

Education:

I am a self taught artist. I began to paint in 2012, I saw myself as a post impressionist painter. I never felt artistically fulfiled until I began to experinent with shape and color, free from confines of landscapes.

Artistic Influences:

Much of my influence is from the Hardedge styles that were first high lighted in California in the late to middle sixties. I don't have any specific artist or school to which i limit myself!
