The nostalgic elements in Frank E. Hollywood's artwork reflect the uncertainty of our times. We cling to the familiar when we are afraid or confused. Yet Frank uses these elements to create a symbol of hope. Nostalgic images are recycled, creating something modern and unique.

Beetles eat and process natural waste. This recycling character of the beetle has been translated by using recycled empty spray cans as a canvas. The gold shiny metal of the spray can material is also used within the painting as the shiny armor shield (elytra) of the beetle, so that the resemblance is reflected not only in the symbolism, but also in the material.
