What is it, the female image these days? And in contemporary art. Our gallery presents the artworks of 6 artists made in different techniques on the theme "Modern female image".
Ekaterina Shitova's eclectic collages represent a special view of femininity: ancient Greek sculptures, once an indisputable symbol of beauty, with a privileged attitude in ancient times, supplemented with the attributes of a modern woman or even figures of contemporaries. For example, hair, accessories, animals are skillfully combined with the classic female images of goddesses and heroes of antiquity.
Graphic delicate female images, made in pastel or acrylic in the nude style by the artist Anna Lageda, create feminine classic images of contemporaries. A little shy, mysterious, thoughtful, definitely feminine. And therefore beautiful. There is no perfect body, there are different women with different personalities and attitudes to themselves and their bodies.
Tatiana Rusakova's painting "The Path Traveled" depicts a girl sitting facing us in half a turn. We can see the calmness in the pose and in her gaze. And assume that she is a little tired or resigned to something. Is she beautiful? Definitely. The image of the girl is so realistic that it seems as if she is about to talk to us. The work is based on a deep personal history. It's about accepting yourself and your body.
Ksenia Redina's works are made in the style of cubism. 2 female images - two riddles. One of them is a portrait of a stranger with red hair, with a hat on her side and bright lips. The second image resembles a lady performing a curtsy. Triangle arms hold a crinoline dress. Both images are made in the technique of glazing, by superimposing triangles with paint on each other.
The works of artist Natasha Korets refer to an ancient craft: needlework. A typical female occupation from time immemorial. The carpets are hand-woven from threads and represent bright, modern and colorful interior items. The carpets have an unusual shape: one is made in the form of a worm, and the other is made of cow skins. Papier mache vases decorated with 3d pen are also unusual and have the shap.
The works of Lyudmila Korets are made in an artistic stroke surface. The artist created images of enigma women. We don't see their faces in the embroidered paintings. One of them in a wide-brimmed hat is standing in front of the mirror, the other stranger's strength is guessed in a light and airy dandelion, the third is rocking on a chair in thought. And finally, the self-portrait is made in oil in the style of cubism. The image consists of triangles that are strung on top of each other. With the help of bright colors and shapes, the multifaceted image of the artist is revealed.
So what is his female image these days? Changeable as time itself. The cult of the body in ancient times was replaced by the recently defined standards of beauty at the end of the 20th century. Podiums, glossy magazines and other media told and showed beautiful, edited figures of contemporaries, successful and self-confident. Recently, there has been a trend towards natural beauty these days. From the inside to the outside. This is due to the solution of internal problems and conflicts, as well as external factors, including the expansion of women's rights in the modern world. When you can be different and free, follow fashion or not, be in your size and feel comfortable.
The modern image is different, as are the prototypes themselves. The artists have created and are creating female images based on their feelings, their feminine nature and relying and analyzing everything that has become a "classic", on the experience of previous generations and what surrounds us and is happening today.
