Wanyi Li

Effie Wanyi Li is a sculptor and painter currently based in Shenzhen City, China. Due to the long-term interest in psychoanalysis, Li regards making artworks as mental therapy for herself alongside studying with a professional Psychological Counselor. Li's art practice particularly focuses on the boundary between the self-consciousness and the world by involving interpersonal interaction in her game-liked installation and interactive sculptures. 

Li often used Perspex, metal, wood, and stretched string in her works when she was in college and all her works contained geometric elements. Without involving too many emotions, Li expresses herself rationally when she processed those hard materials, as it was an indirect method of transforming ideas into physical artworks. 

On the contrary, recently Li has been using more soft and organic materials like paints and fabrics in order to experiment with a more perceptual way of expression in art and document the progress of her own self-acceptance.
