Presentation

Born in Lille on September 11, 1965, Delphine Lepoutre is a French artist and sculptor working and practicing her art in Aix-en-Provence. Before starting her artistic career, Delphine Lepoutre was a most studious student, passionate about foreign languages, various cultures and travel. This passion for modern languages will allow him to study in the field of international trade. Delphine Lepoutre is determined, ambitious and a mother. Therefore, it is to look after and devote herself entirely to her four children that she stops her work. Thus, the future artist literally changes careers.

She then undertakes the creation of decorative objects and sculptures. She also founded a decoration store to sell her creations. Through her art, two main themes intertwine: that of the loving and protective mother and that of travel, of the thirst for adventure and discovery.

Her sculptures are unmistakably reminiscent of African mothers through the use of fabrics positioned like a scarf. The latter illustrates the gentleness and tenderness of a mother. In addition, it represents the protection of the mother towards her child. His works are made using the use of terracotta, bronze, plaster and white or colored fabrics.

Her slender works evoke the sculptures of Bernadette Dagens (1966). The subjects of motherhood, gentleness, protection and Africa are also represented in the works of Louis Toffoli (1907 - 1999) ("Maternity of the islands", 1996, bronze sculpture) and of Elizabeth Brainos (“Mother and Child", 2015, bronze sculpture).

The notion of timelessness is present in his work. Indeed, the artist mixes tradition and modernity.

His works are powerful and symbolic. Indeed, they represent a vision of the strong woman and the protective mother. We can also consider that his art is a tribute to his children and mothers around the world. In addition, her art reflects above all her daily life and the lives of billions of other women. Just like his studies and his former profession, his works are open internationally. These are also universal and borderless. Maternal love is the same everywhere.
