Anne-Marie De La Torre

Born in Palaiseau (91) in 1968, of Spanish parents, she now lives and works in Nantes.

Since her earliest childhood, Anne-Marie De La Torre Gonnet has lived in different regions (Savoie, Paris, Hérault, Corbières, Clermont, Toulouse), before settling in Brittany. As a result, it has no sense of geographical belonging, hence its cosmopolitan and multicultural influences.

After having worked in the territorial public service for more than 20 years, she decides to devote herself to her passion: painting.

Initiated to art from an early age by her aunt, a former student of Fine Arts in Zaragoza, she also watched her father paint with fascination… She began with oil, to follow the example of her aunt and her dad. Then, she launches into an instinctive painting, based on emotions and the exploration of new universes. After a period focused on the figurative (portrait, still life, landscape…), she chose to turn to abstract art in order to discover new techniques and new universes.

Inspired by the material, the relief and the movements, she wields the brush, the knife and sometimes the sponge. Her transition from oil painting to acrylic in 2014 was a revelation for her.
