Aurélie Richard

From an early age, I developed a passion for caricature. Wanting to practice the profession of artist, I trained at the University of Paris I-Panthéon-Sorbonne where I obtained my license in arts (mention plastic arts).

Very influenced by many artists, some inspire me in my creation. Frida Khalo's work touched me with her poignant messages and the realism of her feelings. Pablo Picasso for his non-conformism, but it is by discovering the pop art movement and especially this explosion of bright, offbeat colors that I am passionate about the art of collage. (Paollozi, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney ……)

I develop my creations based on photos of animals, plants, objects ... that I glue and shape like a colored puzzle. I like to contrast black and white with color. The bright colors contrast with the blackness of black and white, letting the nostalgia of an unconscious feeling emerge. Art is magical in its ability to experience a feeling of joy, disgust, pleasure ...

I like to intrigue my audience. Each collage is unique. I like to provoke the reaction, the spark which will ignite the imagination of my audience,… like a window towards the interior… The woman is in the spotlight. An intriguing, sensitive and strong muse, filled with courage and facing all the vagaries of life. She inspires me with their strength of character. I find in the photos of women a fragility, a hypersensitivity, a more perceptible and powerful expression. My works aim to express a feeling that everyone can interpret in their own way according to their mood. This intimate feeling buried in our bowels, hidden by the shell of everyday life, the indescribable emotion that brings to light the being that we forget at every moment, tormented by societal trials.
