"... I am free to express myself, to think, to memorize, I have the feeling of existing only if I still have this capacity to invent, to renew myself ..."
Bruno Antony is an atypical artist born in 1962 in Rouen.
He practices both painting, collage, drawing, sculpture, photography, performance and music.
Today he shares his life between the Parc de la Terre Noire in Nyoiseau, Rochefort-sur-Loire and Beaucouzé where he has his pied-à-terre and workshops.
His artistic work is a personal writing, formed of symbols and intense colors, freely inspired by comics and Pop Art.
His creations are part of the movement of free figuration, however Bruno Antony does not hesitate in his recent works to move away from it by giving more space to gesture and spontaneity.
His contrasting paintings play on the passage between bright colors and large black lines, the conscious and the unconscious, memories and emotions in a design that is both meticulous and liberated.
This constant duality in his paintings undoubtedly echoes the career and the personality of the artist. Sensitive to volume and color, Bruno Antony does not hesitate to constantly put himself in difficulty by regularly appropriating new spaces and supports, and by provoking unexpected encounters.
His subjects mix autobiographical aspects with allusions to current events.
Influences Combas, Jean Dubuffet, Jack Kirby, Picasso, Don Martin, Keith Haring
