Cecco Mariniello

As a newspaper illustrator and children's book author for many years, Cecco Mariniello felt that he could not express his poetic vein, even if it was only a small part of her work. Thus, he began to paint.

In painting, "I am entirely the artist I must be, without conditioning or compromise" said the artist. He works on memory: puts his personal memory in contact with mythological memory. He mixes the known with the imaginary, paints invented landscapes more real than real, playing with metaphysics and with desire, with the grotesque, with affections and with emotions.

In his painting there are echoes of metaphysics and surrealism, but there is no mannerism. He knows that his painting is sincere and that he does not imitate anyone. He paints in oil on canvas. The times of the oil are, par excellence, those of the painting: they establish with certainty the slow way to the final result. The artist has been exhibited in Milan (galleria Nuages, galleria Cubet, Spazio Mantegna), in Florence (galleria Babele, galleria Fornaciai), in Paris (galerie du Marais) and in Isola d'Elba (sala della Gran Guardia).
