Presentation

Vladimir Clavijo-Telepnev is one of the most renowned modern photographers. His work is characterized by an astounding mastery of the craft and seeming lucidity of stylistic vision, that make his an unmistakable artistic signature. Every single texture of his arcane aesthetic speaks the language of things yet unsaid and bound to the mystery.

Vladimir Clavijo-Telepnev was born in 1962 in Moscow, in the family of creative people. His father, Pedro Clavijo, was a Columbian journalist and a radio reporter. His grandfather by his father's side, Edmundo Clavijo Cubilios, was a famous Columbia's photograph and artist. His grandfather and grandmother by his mother's side, Vladimir and Margarita Telepnevs, were painters.

In 1986, Vladimir graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Academy, faculty of graphic art, specializing in painting, graphics, and polygraphic design. From 1986 was a press photographer for Italian, French and Spanish editions.

In 2001 he was named “a classic of the Russian Artistic Photography” by the Moscow Photography House. 2001: recognized by the Kommersant daily as one of the two best photographers in Russia.

In 2003 Vladimir had his personal exhibition at the Russian Modern History State Central Museum.

His art is a denial of commonness and understanding that only the artistic flair and style allow transforming a single moment of real-life into a piece of art. One can confidently say that Vladimir Clavijo is the patriarch of Russian advertising photography. Professional skills of the transformation of a negative image into a positive one probably are subconsciously present in the philosophy of the artist's creativity. Everything he chooses as a photo-target of his creative vision becomes elegant, stylish, even pretentious, but always beautiful and as a result - positive.

Aesthetical neo-romanticism of photoartist Vladimir Clavijo-Telepnev leaves the spectator with the romantic impression of complicity with aesthetics of the Silver Age.

Vladimir's work of arts were put up for auction at PHILLIPS de Pury in 2003 in New York, in 2008 in London and New York, in 2010 in New York; at GENE SHAPIRO in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 in New York and at HERITAGE AUCTIONS in 2011 in New York.

The author's works are part of the private collections kept by Dmitry Medvedev, Nursultan Nazarbaev, Elton John, Princess Michael of Kent Marie Christine and Peter Greenaway.
