Lara Alcantara Lansberg was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She lived in Paris from 1997 until 1998, where she learned french and rediscovered her passion for theater and Photography. 

Lara then moved to NY to start her BA in Photography and Theater at BARD College.

She completed her school first semester at undergraduate degree was at BARD College, a  liberal en las arts school in New York State, where she studied with leading photographers such as Stephen Shore and Larry Fink. She went to Tisch School of the Arts NYU in New York City. She completed the Master of Fine Arts program at the International Center of Photography/Bard College. 

Lara has worked with the lead photographers, Andres Serrano and Richard Avedon. 

She has shown in NY, Paris, Venezuela, Panama, Spain, and Miami. 

She has participated in group exhibitions in places such as the Museum of the International Center of Photography, where she won a national contest sponsored by Don Perignon, the Michelena Salon in Venezuela, and the Annual Exxon exhibition for new artists at the National Art Gallery in Caracas.  

She has dedicated herself to creating authentic images that tell stories, with a focus on conceptual fine art.

Alcantara's photography explores the inner most essences of life from the malady to the absurdity, from the unrequited to the secret explorations of ones desire good or bad. Her staged photography has elements of snap shot aesthetic however placement of every item and her persona are curated to underscore a theme. 

In 2021 She has won the Julia Margaret Cameron Self Portrait award and the BIFA best photographer of the year 2021 for self-portrait as well. 

During the pandemic, Lara's work goes Viral and gives her an important push that she had been looking for. As she is locked up without staff teams and lighting teams, studios, and art directors, she creates images to get out of her own uncertainty, fears, and anxieties caused by the pandemic. She begins to infiltrate the world of housewives and thus putting a little comedy on her image, sarcasm, and a concept. It is the way she was able to get out of reality and into her own parallel reality.  

Now she travels the world with ropes and her camera and tripod, writing on the ground and in nature phrases that make the audience think. 

She will be participating in Scope during Art Basel and her work will appear in the VIP Lounge of Art Basel's Convention Center in Miami.  

She is an energetic soul who always strives to spread light and happiness everywhere she goes.
