Biography

In 2013 Suzanne Vaucelles was looking for something to do with her daughter, a watercolourist. At the age of 78, she picked up a paintbrush and started painting with local associations. She began with acrylics under the guidance of Olivier Bonnelarge, then moved on to oil painting with Fabienne Lebourgeois. She discovered knife painting with Joël Kurgouale. At her age, she felt she had little time to learn. That's why she works twice as hard, choosing a variety of subjects. Her pleasure lives in creating the painting. 'My paintings reflect the love of nature that I share with my daughter'.

Although she is a figurative artist. The idea drawn from reality results in a work that is arranged and organised as it is created. The work is guided by the feeling of the moment. The resulting work is not a faithful translation but rather the expression of the emotions of the moment.

As well as giving myself pleasure, I also want to share my work with the public. I want the viewer to feel the emotion and joy that drives me in my work. The knife allows me to translate movement, bring landscapes to life, make colours sing and express the atmosphere of the moment.
