Ružena Velesová

I was born in Košice, Slovakia in 1952. I first studied at SVŠ in Košice and then at School of Applied Art in Košice. I am among the first graduates of this art school.

Throughout my life, I worked in jobs that included creative work. I worked as a designer for arrangers at Culture House Prior, at the State Theater in Košice in the scenography department, in the aesthetic department and as a professional pedagogical worker for children and youth.

In 1990, right after the regime change, my husband and I founded our company EVRO. Its main activity was hand-painted porcelain, later the production of souvenirs. In this production of souvenirs, my watercolors and line drawings of individual cities were applied to glass and porcelain. We sold these products in our own store in Košice and through other customers within Slovakia.

My favorite subjects are landscapes, streets, bouquets, abstractions. I also like to work in fashion. My designed models were realized at a fashion show for plus size women in Košice.

In 2015, the city of Košice published a wall calendar that contained my 18 watercolors from the streets of Košice.

Due to this rich activity of mine, I had very little time left for my own work. This happened only after retirement.

Three times I participated in the joint exhibition "Art Spectrum".

In the spring of 2023, I founded ATELIER 2023. In December 2023, I organized an exhibition for the members of this studio.

I also presented my current work at this exhibition.
