WHAT'S COOKING
Carreau du temple, 4 Rue Eugène Spuller, 75003 Paris
With one of the most unique aesthetics of Contemporary Street Art; The futuristic retro duo Low Bros is formed by Hamburg brothers Christoph and Florin Schmidt. Together they examine the contradictions associated with identity in the digital age. Nostalgic for a bygone past, their work is marked by the presence of objects that belonged to their childhood and youth in the 80s and 90s. From streets to galleries all over the world; the Low Bros aesthetic has evolved from a sub-cultural, sharp, and deeply personal past, to the collective cultural identity of an ever more metaphysical present. The Low Bros brothers, give us a glimpse of their current work, through their exhibition “What's cooking” presenting their “Window Views”.
The concept of this series was born during the confinement imposed by the Covid. Collective electroshock, during which we became aware of how our screens served as windows to the outside world, even though our bodies were prisoners of our interior spaces. In this series, their works on canvas are transfigured by collages of colored and painted papers, representing compositions of cut flowers, nature substitutes for digital time. A window, a view, a hope towards freedom and the outside, virtual but nevertheless, essential.
HD Galerie is proud to present the poetic and futuristic work of the Low Bros, for the first time, in France.
