Corpo e cidade - Duo show João Santa Rosa Habib & Mariana Falcao

PARIS From November 18, 2021 to November 19, 2021

Presentation
The Creative Industry Only agency is proud to present the two Brazilian's photographers João Santa Rosa Habib & Mariana Falcao for the exhibition « CORPO E CIDADE » on Thursday, November 18th at the Galerie Horizon 75003 Paris.

The exhibition :
Corpo from the Latin Corpus, physical structure of a living organism, materiality of being, flesh. Essential or main part of a material or abstract structure. Union of molecules organized in the form of a system. In the city of Salvador, under the skies of Bahia of All Saints, the body bleeds, dies, sleeps and lies down with the city. The body is the city.
A hermetic Bahia, profuse in its individuality, whose poetry pulsates around the corners of languid bodies. Through the veins of avenues, backs of slopes, one can hear a song of a land in its Ijexás, marked for years by slavery history. City that was rebuilt by struggles and conquests, of a happy and very passionate people, but which still suffers from the marks of structural racism. Bahia of Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Castro Alves, Glauber Rocha, Jorge Amado, João Gilberto. The city with the blackest population outside the African continent. Where the body and its people were so marked by its history that it was incorporated as a single single structure. Corpo e Cidade reflects on this interconnection of its people and the city of Salvador as lines of constant poetical and structural connection, metaphorizing this correlation through visual art.

The artists :
Mariana Falcão is a multimedia artist based out of Salvador, Brazil.
Best known for her stimulating narratives of urban landscapes and people who find rapture in the abstraction of monotony. Her distinctive personal style emanates new colors and shapes and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of Brazil.
Mariana’s oeuvre encompasses photo, video, paintings, installations exploring life and dream through different materials and mediums. The physical elements of her practice are as symbolically resonant as they are vast-ranging.
Her work can be seen on numerous streets of Salvador and online in different art projects and experiments.

In 2021, Mariana Falcão and João Habbib, her work partner, started an inclusive urban exhibition in the city of Salvador, named “Body and City” The exhibition currently occupies two streets of the largest fair in Latin America, the São Joaquim Market.

João Santa Rosa Habib is visual artist and photographer from Bahia, that already lived in cities such
as London, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, this last one, where he studied Cinema at Puc-Rio. He currently lives in his hometown, Salvador, where he dedicates himself to his works in visual arts and photography.
The work of João Santa Rosa has a drama through the technical use of light and shadow, linking the context of the city in which he was born and grew up. Through the use of angles and cuts in his compositions he gives his characters a ludic aspect, creating a mystery suspended in the entire atmosphere of his work.
