Nature morte contemporaine
Les artistes contemporains de nature morte s'inscrivent dans le sillage d'une longue tradition artistique. Ce genre naît dans l'art hollandais des 16ème et 17ème siècles et se plaît à représenter des plantes, des objets inanimés de la vie quotidienne, de la nourriture et des animaux morts, en bref tout ce qui est immobile. Le genre de la nature morte regagne ensuite en popularité à l'époque de l'art moderne, notamment sous les pinceaux de Cézanne. D'autres artistes connus comme Salvador Dali et Andy Warhol l'ont également expérimenté.
Aujourd'hui, de nombreux artistes contemporains de nature morte, tels que Wendy Chazin et Graziella, adoptent une approche plus traditionnelle sur le plan visuel. Dans leurs peintures de natures mortes, ces artistes contemporains s'inspirent largement des maîtres de l'art moderne.
Toutefois, ces dernières années, certains artistes ont apporté une nouvelle dimension à la nature morte contemporaine. L'artiste japonais Koji Kasatani axe son travail sur des sculptures de peau d'une banane, détournant cette peau sans vie, en un être humain effectuant différentes activités de la vie quotidienne. Quant à l'artiste roumaine Ana Popescu, elle dépeint des objets du quotidien en utilisant des formes simples et des couleurs vives pour leur donner vie. Enfin, la peintre américaine Amy Nelder, a révolutionné le genre en créant des natures mortes centrées sur un thème central humoristique ou d'actualité.
