Artistes d'avant-garde
Le mouvement artistique d'avant-garde ne peut être défini comme un groupe spécifique d'artistes, mais englobe plutôt les œuvres d'art et les artistes qui remettent en question les normes sociétales ou culturelles de manière expérimentale et radicale. Les artistes d'avant-garde créent des œuvres innovantes qui jouent avec de nouveaux types d'images, de formes et d'autres éléments du langage visuel.
Les débuts de l'avant-garde européenne remontent au milieu du 19ème siècle, avec l'artiste socialiste Gustave Courbet dont le style de peinture réaliste rejetait la tradition académique et l'art romantique de son époque. Introduits à partir de cette période, les différents mouvements de l'art moderne sont tous considérés comme faisant partie de l'avant-garde, tels que le dadaïsme, le cubisme, le futurisme et le surréalisme. Ces mouvements sont considérés comme avant-gardistes en raison de la combinaison de leurs innovations en termes de forme et de langage visuel, et de leur alignement sur un parti politique.
Bien qu'il soit souvent utilisé pour désigner les œuvres d'art produites durant la seconde moitié du 19ème siècle et au début du 20ème siècle, le terme « avant-garde » est également utilisé pour parler de l'art produit aujourd'hui. Il désigne toutes les œuvres et tous les artistes qui repoussent les limites de l'art de manière créative et radicale.
