Artistes inspirés par les logos
D'après l'écrivain Steven Heller, les premiers logos remontent à l'Antiquité. Un logo peut être défini comme étant la représentation unique d'un individu, d'une idée, d'une pensée ou d'un produit. Associer des mots à des représentations picturales a permis de réduire l'analphabétisme, en illustrant de façon visuelle un lieu, un métier, une action… D'ailleurs, dans la société de l'image qui est la nôtre actuellement, on peut annoncer que le logo est là pour rester… Mais peut-il devenir en lui-même une œuvre d'art ? Le pop art en premier s'est chargé de répondre à cette question, en élevant le logo « Brillo » au rang de sujet artistique. Coïncidant avec la mondialisation de la pop culture,de la musique et des célébrités, le pop art, en tant que mouvement artistique, apparaît au milieu des années 50 en Grande-Bretagne et à la fin des années 50 aux États-Unis. Sa caractéristique principale ? La volonté farouche de défier les traditions des beaux-arts. Dans l'art contemporain, le logo, riche de son héritage artistique, inspire encore les artistes et les spectateurs, confrontés quotidiennement à la publicité.
