Collage figuratif
Les artistes utilisent le collage depuis longtemps. La tradition moderne du collage, telle que nous la connaissons aujourd'hui, est toutefois souvent attribuée aux artistes cubistes Pablo Picasso et Georges Braque. Au début des années 1900, ces artistes ont expérimenté en collant des coupures de journaux et d'autres matériaux sur leurs toiles afin de créer des liens surprenants entre les éléments visuels. Les créations de collage des cubistes ont ensuite inspiré de nombreux artistes modernes à expérimenter cette technique, qui est rapidement devenue un élément essentiel du monde de l'art moderne.
Aujourd'hui, le collage est une forme d'art extrêmement variée. Des artistes contemporains de styles différents produisent des collages pour créer l'intérêt visuel de leurs compositions. Pour les artistes figuratifs, c'est-à-dire ceux qui représentent le monde matériel visible à travers l'art, le collage sert souvent à ajouter des éléments inattendus ou abstraits à leurs œuvres.
