Panoramas solitaires
On pourrait dire qu'il est terrifiant d'être seul avec ses propres pensées. Mais le panorama solitaire dans l'histoire de l'art nous montre qu'il ne faut peut-être pas craindre d'être en sa propre compagnie… En effet, le panorama lui-même est basé sur l'identité de l'observateur. Le sujet peut se trouver dans un vaste paysage, sans voisins, sans bruit ni agitation. Ou bien il peut se trouver au cœur même de celui-ci, au milieu de l'agitation de la vie quotidienne et entouré d'autres personnes. Il peut également arriver que la vue panoramique d'un tableau soit la vue elle-même, sans même une figure pour l'habiter.
Avec l'émergence du pop art dans les années 1950, les spectateurs ont vu une autre facette de l'œuvre d'Andy Warhol : des scènes qui portent sur la distance entre les gens, et étudient les idées d'intimité et d'éloignement. Le panorama solitaire était, dans ce cas, un entourage scintillant ou une brassée d'appareils photo faisant office de tampon entre les interactions humaines. Dans la sélection d'œuvres d'Artsper, JC Pratt utilise le paysage urbain et son architecture comme toile de fond pour la figure solitaire, déterminée à susciter l'introspection. Elena Raceala et ses représentations en noir et blanc de paysages marins, quant à elles, créent un panorama solitaire plus proche de l'abîme ou du vide, dans lequel ses habitants (ou le spectateur) peuvent se perdre - avec eux-mêmes pour seule compagnie.
