"On the way to the origins". Philippe Jacq
Unpublished acrylic paintings on canvas, embroidered paintings on canvas and acrylic drawings on paper. Works produced in 2021.
“I want to dance with the animals. But since I can't always do it, I paint pictures”, writes Philippe JACQ.
“We travel with Philippe Jacq through time and space. His painting, sometimes enriched with weavings or feathers, plunges us into the collective Unconscious. Hybrid beings, mythological creatures question our relationship with nature. The viewer is immersed in an animist ritual. He dances with animals, barefoot in the earth, connected to the universe.", writes Olivier de Monpezat.
The exhibition "On the way to the origins" presents some thirty unpublished paintings produced in 2020 and 2021 by Philippe Jacq. These acrylic paintings on canvas, magnetic and contrasting, are as many psychedelic and tangy electroshocks depicting animal creatures, real or imaginary, caught in a frenzied dance. They illustrate encounters where the animal is represented in all its power, in majesty. They appear like mysterious high reliefs, laden with secrets and imbued with mysticism. Totemic, sculptural representations, with supercharged colors, they speak to us of encounters, power, harmony, love and desire. Reds, pinks, oranges and electric blues collide in this way, a whole colorful ardor in the service of an overflowing creative energy. They question our gaze and our vision of the world in the light of primordial and powerful beings, disguised as animals, as a source of inspiration to take support and leap forward towards a new era, more beautiful and strong, charged with renewed energy, full of hope.
