Fascination is the title of Yann Crenn's second private exhibition, which brings together 35 completely new engravings, paintings and sculptures.
Combining as usual, materials and techniques, Yann Crenn this time chose to start from a real subject, the butterfly.
Intrigued, amazed, fascinated by the chromatic diversity and the delicacy of their motifs, the artist made the butterfly the common thread of two years of producing unique and varied works.
The exhibition becomes an invitation to contemplate the butterflies that he carefully selects from the famous Parisian taxidermist Deyrolles.
The color and patterns of the wings became his source of inspiration for the creation of a series of engravings and paintings. His discovery of scales on the wings nourished his imagination and his desire to create dynamic visual effects by sculpting paper and steel.
Yann Crenn thus returns to a strong point of his artistic approach which consists of interacting with the viewer... going so far as to offer the latter the possibility of entering into the creation of a work by composing his own diptych, titled “Hybrid flight”.
The highlight of this first production around the butterfly, the Nature Forte sculpture raises the question of our relationship with nature, often driven by force and not enough by its observation.
