Laëtitia Giraud is a French painter, based in Nimes in the south of France.
Winner of numerous prizes including the Frédéric de Carfort prize (Fondation de France) in 2023, she mainly uses acrylic paint, and paints from personal photographs and photographic models.
"My approach as a painter begins with a succession of photos taken over several years at random places, encounters, moments to produce a real report on the perception of colors and light. The emphasis is on neon lights, signs , lights and strange colors of the night It is the atmosphere of these photos that I translate into painting Thanks to the contrasts obtained and a particular pictorial technique, I try to address the question of “vibration”. The challenge is to confront abstraction and figuration in the same space in order to detach oneself from the model and keep only the impression of it."
