Evgeniya Buravleva’s new exhibition, Impressions, explores how the works of the Impressionists transformed the history of art. Over time, the places where they worked — Étretat, Giverny, Honfleur — have become cultural landmarks and destinations for artistic pilgrimage.
This series is not limited to iconic sites; it also includes places that, for various reasons, remained outside the Impressionists’ gaze. For example, Mont-Saint-Michel, which at the time served as a prison for political detainees, but today offers an ideal setting for visual reflection.
In Impressions, Evgeniya Buravleva does not merely revisit these landscapes — she offers a contemporary reinterpretation. She examines how our perception of these places has evolved and the new meanings they acquire in the context of today’s visual culture.
