“My women are not sexualized,” Sofia shares. “They are individuals. I want to show the cycles of female life—the bonds between generations, the everyday moments, the sacredness of simply being.”
Biography
At just 18 years old, Sofia Panomarenko is one of the most compelling emerging voices in contemporary figurative painting. Born in the small Ukrainian town of Pervomajsk and raised in a family of professional musicians, Sofia was surrounded by creativity from an early age. Today, she lives and studies in Prague (a school of Art & Design), where she continues to evolve as a young artist of striking sensitivity and vision. Sofia’s artwork were exhibited several times, during the school exhibitions in the heart of Prague, in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Her work breathes new life into the neo-Art Nouveau tradition, balancing classical influence with modern emotional depth. Using acrylic on wood and natural cotton canvas, Sofia chooses materials that reflect her deep connection to nature and the organic world. Her technique is meticulous and intuitive, resulting in richly textured, soulful compositions.
Recurring throughout her work are themes of feminine presence, spiritual intimacy, and emotional resilience. Her figures—often mothers, daughters, sisters, brides, or friends—embody strength and inner life rather than conforming to external ideals. They are not objects of the gaze, but subjects of their own quiet narratives.
Sofia is exclusively represented by the Katie Feygie Art Gallery since 2025. Her first professional solo exhibition will be held by the Katie Feygie Art Gallery in 2026, the exhibition will be accompanied by the presentation of her first printed catalog.
