Biography

Claude Lalanne was a French artist known for her sculptural works that combine natural aesthetics with practical design. Trained at the École des Beaux Arts and the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, her art draws inspiration from the natural world, with a focus on floral and animal motifs.

Lalanne is best known for her collaboration with her husband, François-Xavier Lalanne, forming the duo "Les Lalannes." While Claude favored plant and flower themes, François-Xavier concentrated on animals. Their work gained international fame in the 1960s through commissions by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé.

Though she lived in Paris, Claude spent much of her time in her countryside studios near Fontainebleau, where her baroque taste and love for nature shaped her creations.
