We had the pleasure of meeting Jessica Mulliez, founder of the fine jewelry house Poinçon 22, renowned for her refined and contemporary approach to jewelry design. With a minimalist yet symbolic aesthetic, she reinvents the traditional medal, transforming it into a deeply personal and meaningful piece. Guided by intuitive creativity and meticulous craftsmanship, Jessica creates 18-carat gold jewels that tell unique stories and celebrate the individuality and beauty of every woman.

1. Hello Jessica, thanks for talking with us today! Can you tell us about yourself and what Poinçon 22 is? How did you start your career in jewelry?

Poinçon 22 is a jewelry brand I started seven years ago. After working in the field for a while, I wanted to create something of my own, with a unique identity.

The idea began with the medal — a piece full of meaning and history. Very quickly, personalization became key in what we do, allowing each person to feel like the every piece of jewelry is truly theirs.

Today, Poinçon 22 offers several collections in 18k gold, designed to celebrate women. Most pieces can be customized, giving every customer a unique experience.

Our jewelry is sold online and in our showrooms in Lille and Paris, by appointment.

2. How did you balance the creative side of jewelry creation with running the business when you launched the brand?

It's definitely a challenge — creativity and business need very different kinds of energy, but both are important. Early on, I realized I had to find a balance and not choose one over the other. Creativity gives meaning to the jewelry, but without planning and good management, the business can't thrive.

I learned to organize my time — setting aside time for creative thinking and separate time for business tasks. I also built a great team to help with certain areas, which lets me stay focused on the brand's vision.

3. Are there any styles, cultures, or traditions that inspire your work? Where do you find your creative ideas?

Inspiration comes from everyday things — a person on the street, a magazine cover, a photo detail, a material, a shape... But what inspires me most are conversations. Often, a client's idea or an emotion shared with someone gives me the spark for a new design.

I'm drawn to symbols and meaningful objects. That's why I've always been interested in medals — they're ancient and symbolic. I also want my pieces to feel timeless, like something that can stay with someone their whole life.

I don't follow one specific style — my influences come from many places, sometimes even without me noticing.

4. What makes Poinçon 22 different from other jewelry brands?

Poinçon 22 is special because of its unique style. Each piece has a recognizable design — with shapes, lines, and details that make it stand out. We aim for a mix of simplicity, symbolism, and character.

We pay attention to every step of the process. Our jewelry is made carefully by expert artisans, with a focus on detail and quality. I want each piece to tell a story and connect with the person who wears it.

It's this honesty, attention to detail, and personal approach that I think our customers really love.

5. Is there a piece or collection that means something special to you? Why?

The Amore collection holds a very special meaning for me, as it was the first I created for Poinçon 22. It perfectly embodies the spirit of the brand: a blend of clean lines, the strength of a single word — Amore — and the brilliance of an eternal stone, the diamond.

I love the apparent simplicity of this piece, which in reality conceals deep symbolic richness. Its shape has become emblematic of Poinçon 22 and carries a universal message. It's a piece that can be gifted to oneself, as an act of self-love or confidence, but also to someone dear: a daughter, a sister, a friend, a partner…

It's this idea of love in all its forms that makes this piece so special in my eyes.

6. Looking back since the launch of Poinçon 22, what has been your biggest evolution — whether aesthetically or in your mindset as a founder?

My biggest evolution has been accepting that I can't do everything on my own. At first, I wanted to control every aspect, but I realized that in order for Poinçon 22 to grow, I needed to delegate and build a strong team around me. Recently, by entrusting others with certain responsibilities, I've been able to refocus on the very essence of the brand: creation.

7. If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting their own brand — especially something you wish you had known at the beginning — what would it be?

Surround yourself with the right people from the very start. You can't do everything alone, and having the right team makes all the difference.

8. What does the future hold for Poinçon 22? Are there any upcoming projects you're excited about or new directions you'd like to explore?

The future of Poinçon 22 continues to be written with passion and creativity. I'm excited to unveil new collections, always staying true to the brand's DNA. And perhaps, one day, open a space entirely dedicated to the world of Poinçon 22, to take the experience even further.
