SOLO SHOW - "ERIC ROBIN"
Eric Robin was born in 1958, in Romans sur lsère in Drôme. He lives and works in Salon de Provence. He was introduced to painting at the age of nine by his uncle, a painter. He worked as a window dresser for luxury ready-to-wear boutiques, creating his own sets. In 1992, he opened a space dedicated to art in Salon de Provence: an art gallery, for the sale of fine arts materials and framing. From this artistic environment, will be born his first creations and exhibitions.
From 1998, he developed an abstract work inhabited by transparency and vibration. This work is obtained by the technique of oxidation of copper leaf (leaf gilding), which he perfected over the years. In 2015, in addition to abstract works, he turned to other research and expressions, which allowed him to create new works in three dimensions: crumpled paper. Each large-format painting represents dozens of meters of paper, carefully prepared and gold-leafed, oxidized, painted, cut, folded. Then with precise gestures he crumples glue in layers, thus creating a composition in relief, full of subtlety, whose play of shadows accentuate the contrasts and the fine shades of transparency.
