Welcome to Viewpoints, a captivating collective exhibition of photography presented by The Art Design Project gallery. This curated selection showcases the distinctive visions of four exceptional artists: Javier Rey, Ying Chen, Jill Peters, and Juan Pablo Castro, all proudly represented by our gallery. Each artist brings a unique perspective and photographic approach to this exhibition:
Javier Rey: "The series, Entrelazar, is based on the selection of an urban element, the lamppost: a vertical element that rises above the urban landscape and is repeated in the city of Bogotá. The artist carries out the study where he allows the object to display its parts and generate a tangle of lines, knots, and even points that accumulate in layers to create a new landscape system.”
Rey’s work has been showcased in several international art fairs, including ArtLima (Peru), Scope Art Fair (Miami), and La Feria Del Millón (Colombia). These high-profile fairs provide significant exposure for artists to a global audience.
Ying Chen: The artwork employs collage to fuse the ornate features of traditional architecture with stark modernist geometry. This duality within the piece highlights the city's journey through time, symbolizing the transformation from its historic roots to its contemporary identity. The interplay of shapes and the layering of eras challenge the viewer to consider the narrative of change and continuity in the city's evolution, emphasizing that in the midst of progress, fragments of the past persist, creating a rich tapestry of history and modernity.
A notable recent achievement for Ying Chen is that her artwork "Too Young To Drive," which was awarded 1st place in the Portrait Category of the 2023 APS Juried Show. Another notable recognition was "Sunrise from the tent" being awarded "BEST OF SHOW" in the 2022 APS Juried Show.
Jill Peters: finds her inspiration in the quickly changing architectural landmarks of her youth, like the demolished Miami Herald building, an abandoned roller coaster or a neglected go-kart track. Jill Peters held a significant one-night-only solo Pop-Up event titled "Time and Matter" at the +598 Gallery in Miami. This exhibition explored themes of Miami's changing landscape and her unique aerial architectural photography, contrasting the city's past and present.
Juan Pablo Castro: The artist's photographs capture the transformation of everyday life into another reality. Images that explore what the future will be like. Industrial, eccentric and progressive, Castro's vision is a combination of different influences that translate into deconstructed images. Castro has surrounded himself with art, inspiration and creative sources that have enriched his work and the way he perceives the world around him. His notable exhibition, "Joy" showcased his photography series featuring deconstructed images of colorful public structures, emphasizing his background in industrial design and his fascination with color and shape.
