Biography

Aimé Daniel STEINLEN is a French figurative painter, engraver, illustrator, printer, and lithographer, born in 1923.

A great-nephew of Théophile Alexandre, he graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His artistic career is divided between exhibitions and teaching. He also created works for art books, notably illustrating Flight to Arras (Pilote de Guerre) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry for Gallimard. The unique light that bathes the northern landscapes characterizes his works.
