Biography
Born in 1984, in Boulogne Billancourt in the Parisian region, Laurent Wilga Lerat aka LOLEK's career began at the extraordinary age of....12. Indeed, the artist exhibited his first bronzes at this age. However, those days, his work was far from winning unanimous support, as he was blamed for his simple works. He didn't get discouraged, in fact LOLEK continued to create. He obtained his high school diploma, gave up studying and focused on sculpture.
He developed his unique style, it stands out due to its generous forms, profusion of curves and the unique proportions. Nudity is a recurrent theme in his work and is treated sensually, this gives him a provocative reputation, and adds on to his fame. The fact that he didn't receive any formal training in sculpture or bronze work, gives an immature impression, which defines his style and now is his hallmark.
A professional artist, he began exhibiting at an early age, in galleries around the world since 1996. Recently, his work was exhibited in prestigious fairs like Miami Art Fair, London Art Fair, Singapore Art Fair but also the Lux Art Fair in 2016. He is also popular at Drouot sales.
