Provokative Künstler

Die Kunstgeschichte ist von vielen Skandalen und Ausflüchten provokativer Künstler durchzogen. Da das Hauptziel der Kunst darin besteht, eine Reaktion hervorzurufen, ist es naheliegend, dass einige Künstler versuchen, uns aus unserer Komfortzone herauszuholen. Einige provokative Maler haben Kritiker regelrecht schockiert, wie bspw. Gustave Courbet mit seinem berühmten Gemälde "Der Ursprung der Welt" aus dem Jahr 1866, das in seiner Darstellung von Nacktheit seiner Zeit sehr weit voraus war. Doch Maler sind nicht die einzigen provokativen Künstler; auch Fotografen wie Nobuyoshi Araki und Bettina Rheims richteten ihre Linsen auf kontroverse Themen.

Der Skandal ist jedoch nicht zwangsläufig mit Nacktheit verbunden. Provokation in der Kunst entspringt dem Willen zu schockieren und sich von Grenzen oder Tabus zu befreien, weshalb viele engagierte Künstler ihre Kunst nutzen, um subversive Botschaften zu verbreiten und sich gegen die etablierten Regierungen zu stellen. Dies ist der Fall bei Street Artists wie Banksy, Jean-Michel Basquiat oder Keith Haring.
