The 21st edition of ST-ART will be held at the Parc des Expositions in Strasbourg from 25 to 28 November. ST-ART gather 99 galleries with 40% of which are international, representing 500 artists from 20 different nationalities. ST-ART is the first contemporary art fair in region. It is a fair in the heart of Europe, which attracts 25.000 visitors each year within the exhibition 12.000m2.
ST-ART is an annual trade event, reserved for galleries of modern and contemporary art as well as art publishers. Beyond the promotion of modern and contemporary art, the new management team formed in 2015 wants to bring together all the actors of art who play a key role in enriching the artistic heritage of tomorrow by breaking Private-public boundaries, critic-gallery.
After the MEP in 2015, a new major cultural institution is invited to present some of its collections on a hundred square meters: the Maeght Foundation, guest of honor of this 21st edition.
Inaugurated on July 28, 1964 by André Malraux, the Foundation was conceived and financed by the couple Aimé and Marguerite Maeght. It was born thanks to the friendship of Aimé Maeght, an art dealer and Parisian gallerist, with the great names of modern art including Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Fernand Léger, Georges Braque, Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall and Eduardo Chillida .
It is one of the most important collection of paintings, sculptures and graphic works of the 20th century in Europe (Balthus, Bonnard, Braque, Calder, Chagall, Chillida, Giacometti, Léger, Miró, Ubac, Tal Coat), also of contemporary artists (Adami, Arroyo, Calzolari, Caro, Del Re, Dietman, Garouste, Hyber, Kelly, Mitchell, Monory, Pincemin, Sui Jianguo, Takis, Tàpies, Tatah ...) that will be presented at ST-ART, said Olivier Kaeppelin, director of the Foundation before adding: "Marguerite and Aimé Maeght were initially gallery owners who decided, along with the artists, to found this place in the heart of the hills of the Riviera-Cote d'Azur By giving it a cultural mission: to maintain and develop the spirit of invention and creation that our society needs so much today. "
In 2014, the Maeght Foundation celebrated its fiftieth anniversary.
CARTE BLANCHE TO MICHEL NURIDSANY
Invited in 2015 to take a look at the fair, Michel Nuridsany, writer, art critic, literary critic, curator of exhibition, proposes for this 21st edition a solo show dedicated to the artist Anne Ferrer, French artist installed in Paris.
After 7 years of studies in the United States, Anne Ferrer returned to Paris. The feeling of being "foreign" in a city obsessed with fashion, food, fragrance, and luxury culture fascinated and amused the artist who started playing with these ingredients. The textile and its manipulations have become the main processes of creation of Anne Ferrer: constructing, sewing, creating shapes, and giving meaning to them.
It has been exhibited at the Center Pompidou, at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, as well as at Sonia Rykiel and Nina Ricci and at various museums such as the Seoul Museum, the French Institute in Naples, the La Paz Museum , Madrid, etc. It is also present in numerous public and private international collections.
Under the shock of the attacks of November 13, she has collaborated with John Nichols to carry out this new project.
