Philippe Pradalié was born in Avignon in 1938. He lives and works in Paris and in Clermont-l'Hérault.

1958

Laureate of the 2nd Biennale de Paris
Meeting with Alberto Giacometti, jury of the prize, who encourages him to pursue his artistic career

Trips to the USA

1968 - 1976
Philippe Pradalié stops painting. During his 3rd trip to the USA in 1970, he shoots in the streets of NY. Back in Paris, he directs films for the ORTF and the INA.
During the viewing of his shoots Rushes from NY at the ORTF, he meets Henri Cartier-Bresson who helps him obtain the help of the Service d’experiemtation du Super 8 pour his first film: Manhattan Express (1970)
Follow: Bastilles (1973) and Une Journee Particuliere (1975)
In 1970, he makes Mer – de a la Peinture
Designs and realises objects and pieces of furniture (Berceau Fleur) some marketed by Roche-Bobis

1969
Discovers a 11th century Cistercian monastic building, listed, and only witness of the 50 barns and wine cellars around the Abbaye de Fontenay (Burgundy)
Works as a paver, plasterer and carpenter

1970-1973
In January 1970, Pierre Restany writes the Manifeste de l’Atelier A. In this adventure, Philippe Pradalié rubs shoulders with 50 artists amongst which Arman, Mark Busse, Lourdes Castro, Cesar, Robert Malaval, Annette Messager, Jean-Pierre Raynaud, Herve Telemaque, Iannis Xenakis, etc.

1976-1977
Philippe Pradalié teaches at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier. Sent away, as his teaching doesn’t conform to the views of the Ministere de la Culture. Helped by the painter Martin Dieterle, takes up painting again.

1979-1983
Builds his house in a warehouse of which the façade is a remain of the Universel Exhibition of 1889, rue Oberkampf in Paris.

1980-2004
Philippe Pradalié teaches at the Ecole nationale d’art de Dijon.
