(...) Beneath a glittery touch, McNulty has a radical, punk attitude, the kitsch overload of which hits us almost violently. However, the enchantment takes over: these wonderful pieces carry the magic of Christmas, from the stalls of seaside resorts where pearly shells alternate with starfish on makeshift displays. The question of taste points its nose: if these objects delight us as much as a sour candy, they radiate a sublime dimension. McNulty's pieces are crystal balls. They probe our unconscious, worry, open up to the unknown, in a setting that is both bewitching and junk. Vaguely scientific and almost artistic, they make people wander and reveal to us unexpected depths.
