Cosmos / Atomos

Paris From January 28, 2019 to February 10, 2019

Presentation
Galerie Anne-Claire Simon is proud to present the first solo show by transdisciplinary artist Marina Mardas. Entitled Cosmos / Atomos, the exhibition will offer a reflection on the notion of Cosmos through the collective imagination. Exploring the answers provided over the centuries - in particular by science - to this timeless question, the demonstration will also revolve around the notion of Atom, this one seeming to be the origin of the known Cosmos, composed of emptiness and of matter. The exhibition is presented as a series of documentary experiences on several media, the aim of which is to guide the public in a joint research with the artist. Each element can be understood as a singular particle, component of a common organic tissue. Born in 1992, Marina Mardas lives and works in Paris. She aims, through her work, a long-term work which is animated around a desire for organic research on society and what constitutes us as Human. His approach, oscillating between the individual and the collective, has for main themes the concepts of Memory, Time or that of the Cosmos. It is through her eyes, sharpened by her sociological background as well as her Lebanese roots, that she plunges us into her universe. The artist questions the world through a dialectic between dystopia and utopia: two extremes that his constant use of black and white echoes. Through her rhizomatic approach, she seeks to highlight the forgotten peripheries, the unspoken. His approach aims to question and not to produce answers, the field of possibilities unfolds. Between sound and matter, Atomos / Cosmos is a cosmic ballad in which the spectator is called to immerse himself. Inspired by the cosmic textures of the music of Brian Eno but also of the album Space is Only Noise by Nicolas Jaar. This exhibition could translate into Space is only matter, a physical translation of experimental and ambient music, the artist plunges us into his synesthesias. In connection with his approach to exploring different media, the artist offers total immersion, analyzing different possible angles to think of the Cosmos. Nuclea I (Figure 1) - series of 3 / nuclear energy, derived from the atom, created by man who was inspired by the cosmos Atomos (Figure 2) is an abstract and dissected view of the atom. The reliefs are drawn through the color variations. Organizing her work as an archeology of ideas, the artist also tries to offer her answers around the notion of the Universe, organizing a microcosmic order in chaos. She thus wishes to plunge the viewer into a cosmic journey, in which there are no longer any benchmarks. This "extraterrestrial" journey takes us to the Unknown through shapes, lines, sounds and smells that are unfamiliar to us The exhibition will be the opportunity to present a new more conceptual, alternative and experimental facet of the program from the Galerie Anne-Claire Simon. The gallery owner will dedicate 2019 to women in art for this purpose.
