Nelly Marks Nakamarra

Nelly was born in 1976, she belongs to the Pintupi group which lives in Kintore and around, in central Australia. She learns Dreaming from her family since childhood and has become a guardian by inheritance of the Dreamtime myths coming from her father and her grandfather, and which concern the country which extends to Kintore. These myths have been "held" from generation to generation by her ancestors for thousands of years. The main themes are: Lighting Dreaming, Women's stories and Women's Tingari Nelly started painting in Kintore. She showed her talent, taught by four major figures of the movement: Old Mick Namarrari, Uta Uta Tjangala, Pinta Pinta Tjapanangka, and especially Tukey Tolson Tjupurrula, her famous father. Nelly is growing in popularity, her works are presented in many galleries across Australia
