Mulyatingki Marney was born around 1941 in Nyinyiri. She grew up with her parents and sisters (Nançy and May Chapman) in the desert, limiting contact with Westerners. In 1966, there were so few Aborigines left in the desert that the family decided to settle in Balfour Downs resort. Once at the mission, Mulyatingki received the name Jeannie. Since 1982, she lives with her children and grandchildren in Punmu and takes up painting to rediscover the stories of her family.
