Mary Napangardi Butcher

Coming from a family of artists, Pauline Napangardi Butcher is an Aboriginal painter. She spent most of her life in an aboriginal community located in a remote area of Nothern Australia. She paints with her sisters.

Her paintings are inhabited by millenial dreams coming from oral traditions of her community. These dreams are intimately connected with the land, which has a sacred value for the aboriginals. She recurrently represents a sacred source of water which never dries out. The pieces created by Mary Napangardi Butcher are intimately spiritual, reflecting her own interpretation and her favorite subjects.
