Maryam Alakbarli

Mariam Alakbarli is an Azerbaijani painter, she was born in Baku in 1991. During her childhood, she developed a taste for artistic creation, as she saw it as a means to express herself. She suffered from Down's syndrome, her parents encouraged her in this path, as they refused to treat this as an obstacle, and treated it as a springboard. She moved to Paris when she turned 20, and studied at Ecole nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs.

Mariam Alakbarli is extremely sensitive, and this allows her to brilliantly translate her emotions in painting. She mainly uses colors to portray sincere paintings, which are filled with kindness. Contrasts, juxtapositions of compatible colors and a play on lights make her paintings electric, they attract spectators. With her paint brushes, Mariam Alakbarli depicts the world as she sees it: beautiful, generous and extremely human. An ode to life through a joyful, enthusiastic and dynamic universe. Mariam Alakbarli highlights through her approach that her sickness isn't the end and and nothing should come in the way of a child to achieve his dreams.

Mariam Alakbarli exhibited her work in Deauville then at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. She also took part in exhibitions in Rome, Istanbul and Moscow.
