Presentation

Born August 22, 1969 in Liège - Belgium Self-taught painter, Abstract Painting Designer since 2012 By replacing music with painting, we could adapt Baudelaire's famous verse to Menu: "Music often takes me like a sea!" "And, like the poet, who writes a little further on:" I feel all the passions vibrate in me / Of a vessel that suffers; / The good wind, the storm and its convulsions / On the immense chasm / Rock me ”, the painter projects on the canvas a pictorial passion which bubbles up in him to spring up in a powerful spontaneous expression. Make no mistake, however: spontaneity does not mean disorderly, because Patrick Menu, designer by training, ensures the balance and consistency of his compositions. The painting came to him one day, by chance. Since then, they have not left each other. The process is gradual: "I have everything to learn", says the painter modestly, who never stops experimenting with the means of his expression. A colorist at heart, he nevertheless does not neglect black and white, which has nothing austere about him, but in his colors we feel the deep joy of creating, of looking for the nuances that will give all its amplitude to contrast and define the intensity of the emotion that emerges there. “My inner rage is expressed by the energy to stage colors. The forms thus created open the way to appeasement and balance ”, says Patrick Menu, confirming that his painting is an authentic catharsis. Favoring large square formats, in which he experiences a real well-being, he transcribes in a sumptuous informal painting a large interior universe which is still far from having said everything. Albert Moxhet July 2014
