Born in 1970 - Belgium
Stéphane Hop works in Paris and Brussels.
Having studied plastic arts at the Lille III University, Stéphane Hop became a professional photographer in 2000 after a career in advertising. He recognizes some of his influences, and when seeing his three series ( "Sublima", "Girl on Video", and "Crumpled") one might think of Francis Bacon (for the third) or of French photographer Antoine d?Agata (in the second).
"The common element between the three series is connected to this quest for the uncertain vibration that I try to reveal in my images. They contain, without any doubt, an ambiguous element which may be disturbing, but in the end everyone is free interpret the contents as they wish", explains the artist.
This approach is not new, but the artist uses it with subtlety and sincerity.
