CÄäT

Belgium  • 1979

Presentation

CÄäT was born in 1979 in Brussels, where she currently lives and works. She is a graduate of the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts (Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels) where she trained in illustration and comics. After completing her studies, she debuted her career as an illustrator for children's book publishers and an independent author and illustrator. In parallel, CÄäT has a blog where she posts her own comics and that has enabled her to define her style.

Her field of artistic investigations also includes fresco and textile sculptures. None of her mysterious characters— brightly coloured half-humans, half-animals and half-vegetables leave room to spare. Their long and tangled arms, and the colorful and intertwined bubbles invade every corner of the narrative space. As an effect of her graphic design experience, her work is essentially narrative, with some abstract touches dominated by color.

CÄäT is a dynamic artist who explores diverse means of expression, from drawing and graphic design, to illustration, painting on canvas, murals, and even textile pieces; her work appeared in numerous publications, fanzines, webzines and she also produces wacky installations and printed t-shirts.
