Saulo Silveira is a Brazilian painter, born in 1950 in Joao Pinheiro, in the state of Minas Gerais.
As a child, he grew up in the middle of nature, in the middle of rivers and virgin forests, engraving deeply in his memory the images of the great outdoors, an inexhaustible source of inspiration. In 1976, he settled in Rio de Janeiro where he started working for several advertising agencies. About ten years later, in 1988, he joined the renowned School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage. In 1996, he decided to dedicate completely to painting. He currently lives and works in Portugal.
In 1990, Saulo Silveira moved to Portugal for professional reasons, and changed his way of painting completely. His previous style purely abstract combines now abstraction and figuration, with technique and precision. The artist uses warm colors, works on the shades and the contrasts, in a game of shadows and light : nothing is left to chance.
Spontaneity is his key word: Saulo Silveira lives day by day, concentrating on the present moment. This philosophy of life is related to the abstraction of his painting, which is only the transcription on the canvas of his emotions in a present moment. The painter makes figuration emerge, from his emotions, which tells about light piercing the clouds of abstraction, making a place in the midst of the canvas.
Saulo Silveira exhibits his work regularly in Portugal and Brazil.
