José Antonio de Lima

José Antonio de Lima is a Brazilian artist born in Sacramento, Brazil in 1954. He studied journalism at the University of Londrina where he graduated in social communications in 1979.

A multifaceted artist, Jose Antonio du Lima likes using a variety of techniques as well as different materials, mixing, modeling, painting, sewing or sculpting. From his drawings we retain the dark stains and the precise lines, from his paintings, the blue, red, brown and ocher tonalities and a particular intriguing mood, from his sculptures, the game on volumes and materials and from all of his artwork, the influence of South American culture.

In his work we observe a brutal and almost crude reality which does not facilitate the total and instant acceptance of his work but we observe as well an undeniable gentleness and poetry that constitutes all the complexity of his art.
